Get your free transit across the GTA this New Year's Eve
Planning to get blotto this New Year's Eve? Fair warning for you. Police will be taking a zero tolerance approach to impaired driving. Fortunately, there's plenty of options available for GTA residents to get home safe and sound after the biggest party of the year.
Several transit services will be offering free service throughout the night. No fare, no problem.
GO Transit
Free service and extra trips have been added along select routes.
TTC
The TTC will be providing free service on all routes, including the subway from 7pm on December 31st to 7am on January 1st.
MiWay
Free service on all routes from 7pm to 4am
Viva/YRT
Free on most routes starting at 7pm to about 4am
Unfortunately, this list seems to have shrunk from last year. It's a shame that more GTA transit agencies aren't jumping on this trend.
If transit isn't an option, be sure to plan your safe ride home before heading out. Don't get caught at the last minute. You can get a hotel rooms, taxi, ride sharing, or simply crash on a friend's couch. Whatever you do, save a life and drive sober.
